About
When I learned about Green Burials I instantly became passionate about it. I knew this was what I wanted for my burial and funeral and I wanted to spread the word and inform everyone of this wonderful option. I learned about the ‘traditional’ funerals we have been used to for burying the dead and how the business of burying is more bottom line money than a personal connection. This is beginning to change, especially with us baby boomers. Besides being so much more personal it’s so much less expensive.
With the economy in the state it’s in now I find that families are staying at home more and reconnecting with each other. I think that these tight times are bringing us back to simpler times…back to the earth as well. People are appreciating more, not less.
Some of the topics I’m going to blog about in Recycle Me as a Tree are: Home Funerals (yep, that front parlor was put there for a reason 100 years ago), Pre-planning a Funeral, Biodegradable Caskets, Shrouds and Urns, Life Celebrations and more.
Being spiritual I don’t fear death. What I questioned was what I wanted when it came time for my final exit. I knew what I didn’t want but….as I try to live my life as green as I can…a natural funeral and burial totally fit in!
As I know there are many of us who are reconnecting with the earth in many ways, I hope you will join me and comment on my blogs and let me know if there’s anything you would like me to blog about regarding this topic. I’ll do my best to get the information you want.
This is me…a fifty-something single mom and grandma. I am also an ordained minister through the Universal Life Church.
Thanks for visiting. I am looking forward to exploring this new and wonderful empowering option we can choose for ourselves.
